Who made Phantom Blade Zero? S-GAME and Donnie Yen

Updated 2026-10-16. Checked 2026-10-16.

Steam credits S-GAME Studio as developer and S-GAME Publishing as publisher. Founder and director Qiwei 'Soulframe' Liang told RPG Site in December 2025 that the concept began in 2017 and full-scale development began in 2022. Unreal Engine 5 is named in the current Steam description.

These are dated production facts, not a current financial disclosure. No exact development budget is verified; a qualitative statement about a large budget is not a dollar amount.

Roles that are named

The official August 12, 2026 pre-order post credits Donnie Yen as Creative Consultant since 2023 and Mó Yuan's facial- and motion-capture performer. The August 17 developer post confirms that role. He is not credited there as the studio founder or as Soul.

Liang's December 19, 2025 RPG Site interview described about 140 people across Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Los Angeles. That is a historical interview headcount, not a verified October 2026 team total.

  • Developer: S-GAME Studio
  • Publisher: S-GAME Publishing
  • Engine: Unreal Engine 5
  • Advisor and performer: Donnie Yen as Mó Yuan
